There are hundreds of people who have claims filed at the GCCF as a result of the Deepwater explosion that happened two years ago. The Gulf Coast claims are being processed in a case to case basis according to location and amount. The claims and funding requests are due to all the repairs, clean-up expenses and bank loans incurred during and after the 2010 oil spill. The massive oil spill has brought disturbance to the life of the local communities along the southern coastline. GCCF processes these funding requests especially from places like Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, because these are the places that have been affected the most by the oil spill. The Gulf Coast Claims Facility makes sure that the claims from the mentioned states are put to the top of the list. The GCCF continues to provide financial assistance consistent with the Oil Pollution Act (OPA) of 1990 and guidelines from statutes and regulations.
